“The only difference between where you are now, and where you’ll be five years from now are the books you’ll read, the places you’ll go, and the people you’ll meet.”
Motivation comes and goes. If you are looking elsewhere to get you motivated, then you are looking in the wrong places. Motivation comes deep down. It is built internally stemming from your “WHY”. Your why is what will keep you motivated. It is simple. Whatever you do in life make sure you have a strong why attached to it. It will give you the spark you need.
Write out your goals whether they are short term or long term and make sure under each one you have a strong “WHY” for whatever it is that you are doing. Why do you get out of bed in the morning? Why do you do the things that you do? It is your why that counts. Be relentless about what you are going after and never back down.
Clarity and focus are key components to keeping you driven throughout your journey to the top. Staying clear about what is that you want and writing out each day the goals that will get you to the mountain top. Remember, it is the small everyday steps that get you to your end goal. Inch by inch.
Without being clear about what is that you want it is very easy to get lost. Block out all the external chatter and keep your eye on the prize. Do not let the naysayers or negative people try to talk you out of something that you want to do. Turn that negativity into fuel. Light up the gas tank and prove them all wrong. The hell does anybody know about you all they see is the external they do not know what is burning on the inside. Just do not let the opinions of others get inside your own head. As Steve Jobs famously said, “Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma – which is living with the results of other people’s thinking.” You run the show to your life, nobody else.
Once I found my “WHY” I found out my purpose. Mark Twain said it best, “The two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why.” Once you know your “why” that is all you will need to set your soul on fire. GET IT!
