Rejection hurts. It’s not easy to face rejection when you have been committed for so long in reaching your end goal. Rejection leaves a pain inside. Whatever type of rejection you get hit with whether it’s from a job, college, sports team, asking out a girl, or from your family, it can leave you feeling hurt. I’m here to tell you that when you get hit with the rejection let it sink in and decide to turn that pain into greatness. There would have never been a Michael Jordan if he let rejection stop him. You see everyone will eventually get cut, rejected, or stomped on. What matters the most is what you DO about it. It’s in the moments when you feel defeated is when your character is being tested. You have two choices: soak in self-pity or turn that pain into fuel. No one has the power to bring you down, destroy your dreams, or tell you what you’ll amount to in life. You are the one who decides what your destiny will be. You hold the keys to your own story. It’s up to you whether you will get back up and fight. No one knows you better than yourself. Don’t let people drain your energy or allow them to pull you down.
Below I have included some healthy ways in overcoming rejection and turning it into greatness!
What happens to most people when they get hit with rejection?
Immediately they start to get in the cycle of negative thinking or resort to some numbing behavior such as overeating or diving into alcohol. These are short term fixes that will not amount to anything.
What should you do when you get rejected instead of resorting to easy quick fixes to numb out the pain??
Say, “thank you” for whoever rejected you and prove them wrong. It’s a very simple approach. Turn that rejection into fuel. Fuel the fire. Instead of allowing it to damage you or get you off your tracks let that rejection burn so deep inside that it burns a flame. Let that flame light up that you have become obsessed with reaching your end goal. You have the power to turn a negative situation into a positive one!
Pain is the biggest motivator. Get back up on your two feet and be relentless. Rejected from a college? Rejected from a job? Rejected from your soulmate? Dumped? Cut from the sports team? THANK YOU! Thank you for all the extra fuel. Once you build that inner strength to face whatever comes your way you become limitless. Don’t let rejection stop you! Allow it to propel you forward. Tell yourself I will not let this circumstance stop me in my tracks. I will plow through all of it. Negative situations tend to leave people hopeless and in despair. I’m telling you to never lose confidence in yourself, never give up, and allow that negative situation to break you. Stand strong.
