I like the saying the more you learn the more you earn. The average person is lucky to pick up one book per year. How are you supposed to grow when you are not developing yourself and feeding yourself with daily knowledge? Your knowledge can come from magazines, news articles, blogs, YouTube, audible, kindle, or a hard copy book. There are so many ways to improve yet we find excuses that hold us back from reaching our greatest potential.
Average is all over our society today with more and more people settling for the status quo. As former Navy Seal David Goggins says, “It’s so easy to be great nowadays because everyone else is weak.” Do you constantly find yourself wasting time scrolling through your Instagram feed or spreading gossip? If you do someone else is working to make their dreams become a reality while you are pissing away time. You reap what you sow.
It’s the habits of success that keep us going towards obtaining more success. Follow after what successful people do, study them, and model their behaviors. It’s like a top athlete receiving coaching about their swing or form they are constantly improving. They are studying the game day in and day out. Treat your career and life like a game. Study it, improvise, and execute daily!
Even if it is something that you do not enjoy doing start off slowly. The things you hate doing will become a lot easier with time and patience. It’s up to you to remain hungry day in and day out.
Unfortunately, we tend to spend more time reading the useless captions on social media or negative news headlines that contribute nothing to our lives. Yet, we constantly find ourselves getting sucked into this negativity. Majority of people have become slaves to their smartphones and televisions. They are so programmed doing the same thing day in and day out. What a life that is to watch the negative news, complain about your job, then go back to watching more television after work or attend happy hour and complain about your boss or whatever issues you have. Let me tell you that if you fall into this category then you are uninspired or unmotivated. Throw away the television, eliminate time on social media unless it adds value such as my page (@joe__franchi), and drop the excuses. It’s time to step up the game as life flies by and time is not waiting for you!
Make it a priority this year to read for at least 30 minutes per day. Feed yourself with as much knowledge as possible for how you can be a better individual. A great way to develop a healthier lifestyle is to start off your day reading and finish your day reading. Instead of waking up and rushing to your phone to check Instagram open up a book and absorb as much knowledge as you can. Knowledge is power and anyone can read or learn to. If you do not like reading, then get audible from amazon and start listening to audiobooks. No more excuses either saying you do not have the time or money. Is it more important going out on the weekends, eating fast food, and watching television? The choice is yours.
Take control of your life and step into your greatness this year. Pick up more books, learn more, and rise to the top.
