Everyone wants to be happy and have joy in their life. No matter what life throws your way you have the choice to have happiness in your life or succumb to negativity. I like to say life is a series of choices. You can fill your days up with positivity full of gratitude, joy, imagination, creativeness, and inspiration. Unfortunately, negativity has made its way around society like a disease. If you are tired of watching the negative news filling your mind with nothing but negativity, then I suggest you change!
The first thing you do when you wake up sets you up for success throughout the course of the day. If you allow any negativity come into your life you are setting yourself up for failure. Put all social media off and away. Give yourself time to reflect and by putting yourself first. Mindfulness comes with being present in the moment. It allows you to let go of anything that is racing on your mind to have completed for the day. Meditation is a powerful tool to develop into your life as it allows you to stop overthinking, alieve anxiety, free you from negative thinking, and become more self-aware. Self-awareness is critical for keeping yourself locked into the present moment and fully living in the moment. We live in a time where we are constantly consumed by distractions. We are getting addicted to distractions all around us and are losing the ability to enjoy moments that are truly meaningful.
The beauty behind meditation is that it is an exercise for your mind allowing you to release off any tension and rejuvenating positivity into your life. I have been practicing meditation for about three years now and it has worked wonders for me helping me to live a more meaningful life. I am able to fully live in the present moment without thinking too much about tomorrow or living in the past. The navy seals are experts of meditation sometimes practicing for about an hour a day. With all the negativity that you can come across in a day, it is important to pull yourself out from the stress and give time alone to reflect. Meditation allowed me to stay calm in high pressured situations without getting burnt out of shape and keeping my vision clear. It gives me a high sense of clarity for what I need to achieve and what is important in my life.
Millennials are among the leading generations with the highest rate of suicide, depression, and anxiety. It’s important to not compare yourself with other people as we live in a digital world today. But to put yourself first and create clarity in your life. Meditation allows you to let go of whatever it is that is holding you back and get clear about your vision.
Like anything else, it takes time to form a habit so do not get discouraged if you are not seeing results right away or are getting frustrated with the process. It will be hard initially like anything else new that you have not done before. Once you stay consistent with it and it becomes a habit you will notice the positive effects it will begin to play among your life. For myself, it took me a lot of practice and patience to keep my mind calm. I now start my days right away with a twenty-minute guided practice of meditation and end my day with one. It has played a major role in helping me become fully aware. Remember that thoughts turn into actions so be careful. It takes a while to change any negative internal dialogue but with meditation, it can drastically change your outlook on life. Be patient and remain consistent with it. You will reap the rewards.
