“When life knocks you down, try to land on your back. Because if you can look up, you can get up. Let your reason get you back up.” -Les Brown
We all go through ups and downs in life, it’s called LIFE. What matters is how you handle the times of adversity when your back is up against the wall. You can either sink or swim. It’s easy to sink and settle for the path of least resistance. It takes no effort to hang it up and quit. Most people quit right when they are about to succeed because they feel a little pain. You can use pain and fear as a motivator or run from it. If you keep running it’ll only catch up to you. Keep your eye on the prize and never quit!
Feeling sorry for yourself will not get you anywhere. Poor me, victim mentality and soaking up in your sob story will keep you stuck. Sometimes you have to just say the hell with it I’m going to get up off my ass and start swinging back. Remember there is always someone out there hungry and determined to succeed. That individual is not feeling sorry for themselves because they went through a little adversity. Really. What has it come down to when we need to rely on pills to get us through life. ENOUGH. There is no pill that is going to ever fix your problems, it is just a band-aid.
There is a rising issue among millennials with drug abuse. Abusing drugs such as Adderall, Vyvanse, Ritalin, Cocaine, Heroin, Xanax, Molly, and more. Business Insider wrote an article back in September of 2018 stating that millennials are at an all-time high among suicide, depression, and anxiety. I’ve seen it growing up through high school, college, and among the workplace. This is sickening. It’s one big short cut and an easy way to not discipline yourself and rely on a damn drug to get you by. Drugs will never cure your problems and abusing them to give you an advantage is cheating. What the hell ever happened to traits such as discipline, focus, determination, perseverance, integrity, grit, and persistence. The drugs will never work so stop using them! If you need help, ask for it. You can reach out to the national suicide hotline which is available 24/7 or go to a good support team.
Among the high level of drug abuse has come an uprise with suicide as well. All these drugs have severe side-effects and will destroy your life. According to drugabuse.gov, more than 70,200 Americans died from drug overdoses. Suicide among millennials has soared to the number two leading death among this age range according to suicide prevention resource center. Reach out for help if you feel alone or are struggling.
Life can beat you up physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually but what matters is to keep getting back up.
